Toledo Flies Past Dayton for Fifth Straight Win

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team closed out its three-match homestand Sunday afternoon on a high note with a 5-2 victory over Dayton. The win marks the Rockets' fifth straight win and moves their dual-meet record to 6-4 on the season.

In doubles competition, Pawit Sornlaksup and Marko Galic started out strong with a 6-0 sweep on the No. 1 court. Luka Jankovic and Adam Kovac secured the doubles point for the Rockets with a 7-6(4) win on the No. 3 court, leaving the match on the No. 2 court unfinished.

Kovac tallied the first singles victory of the afternoon for the Rockets, with a two-set victory on the No. 2 court. Sornlaksup's two-set victory over Connor Bruce on the No. 1 court marked his eighth straight win of the season. Galic secured the match for the Rockets with a two-set victory on the No. 6 court. Jankovic went on to win an exciting three-set match over Will Harper on the No. 5 court, 7-5, 4-6, 11-9.

"This was really challenging for us with three competitive matches in five days," head coach Al Wermer said. "That said, I am really pleased with the continued improvements. These guys are taking advantage of these matches to incorporate upgrades."

Toledo will head to Cleveland on Thursday, March 3 for its final two non-conference dual matches of the season. The Rockets will take the court with Cleveland State at 10:00 a.m. followed by a match vs. Holy Cross at 3:00 p.m. in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.
