Box Score CLEVELAND, Ohio – The University of Toledo women's tennis team opened its non-conference road series in Cleveland Friday night with a 5-2 victory over host Cleveland State. It was the Rockets' (7-1) seventh straight victory and first win of the season on an opponents' home court. 

The Vikings opened up by taking the doubles team point with very close victories on all three courts 6-4, 7-5, 6-3.

The Rockets turned the match around in singles competition, however, winning on the top five courts. Sloan Teske, Julia Kuszynski and Shalini Tallamraju won in straight sets. Sophomore Cassie Alcala and Senior Patricia Panta pulled out wins in three sets. Alcala defended the No. 1 court with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 victory. Panta dropped her first set on the No. 5 court to Tereze Vevere and came back to win the match 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.

"Cleveland State outplayed us in doubles, so I was extremely proud of the way we came out in singles," head coach Tracy Mauntler said. "To take five of the six first sets in singles was a huge statement against a very good team. These players have so much confidence in each other and it really showed tonight."

Toledo will stay in Cleveland to play Cincinnati tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.
