Toledo Heads to Cleveland for Two Non-Conference Dual Matches This Weekend

TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo women's tennis team will embark on the last leg of its non-conference schedule, starting this weekend in Cleveland on Feb. 18-19.
Toledo (6-1) will take the court vs. Cleveland State (0-6) at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, and Cincinnati (2-3) at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The Rockets have won their last six dual matches. Both sophomore Cassie Alcala and junior Sloane Teske are undefeated (7-0) this season on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts, respectively, this year. Alcala has won her last nine singles matches dating back to last season, the second time in her career she has won at least eight straight singles contests. Teske has won her last eight matches dating back to last season.
Sophomore Shalini Tallamraju and senior Patricia Panta are are both on six-match winning streaks in singles play as well.
LAST TIME ON THE COURT
The Rockets capped their final home non-conference dual with a 6-1 victory over Duquesne on Friday, Feb. 11. The win marked UT's sixth straight dual match win this season and the 10th straight home victory dating back to last season. The Rockets swept the doubles courts for the team point and five of the singles court in two-set victories.
ABOUT CLEVELAND STATE
Cleveland State (6-2) split it doubleheader against Miami and Slippery Rock on Feb. 12. The Vikings fell 5-2 to Miami, then followed with a 6-1 victory over Slipper Rock later that afternoon. Sophomore Bethany Yauch went 2-0 in the doubleheader, and leads the Vikings mostly on the No. 5 court with a 6-2 record this spring season and a 13-6 record this year.
ABOUT CINCINNATI
Cincinnati (2-3) last took the court with Butler on Jan. 29 and left Indianapolis with a 5-2 win. the Bearcats swept the doubles courts for the team point, and followed with four individual victories on the bottom four courts. Redshirt juniors Ioana Guna and Emma Miceli lead the Bearcats in singles competition. Guana has a 5-11 record on the No.1 court while Miceli holds an 8-4 record mostly on the No. 4 court.Â
