Toledo in Fifth Place Following First Round of Chippewa Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Mich. - Senior Amelia Lee and sophomore Yedam Lee led the way for the Toledo women's golf team and are tied for 12th place after shooting 80s in Monday's first round of the Chippewa Invitational. Today's round was played in blustery, rainy and chilly conditions at the par-72, 5,897-yard Birmingham Country Club.
Junior Macy Hanus and freshman Reese Jansa are tied for 28th place for the Rockets with 83s, while junior Angel Hii is tied for 53rd place with an 88.
Junior Cheryl Hong and senior Claudia Sampson are leading Toledo's B team after shooting rounds of 81 and 82, respectively.
The Rockets sit in fifth place in the team standings with a score of 326. Bowling Green is in first place at 312, six shots in front of Oakland. The Falcons' Emily Nystrom leads the tournament after a 2-over par 74.
The second and final round of the 36-hole event is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday.
