TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo will look to make its third straight MAC win when it hosts Kent State at the Glass Bowl on Saturday, Oct. 15 (3:30 p.m. ET/ESPN+).
The Rockets (4-2, 2-0 MAC) are all alone in first place of the MAC West Division following their 52-32 victory at Northern Illinois on Oct. 8.
Sophomore cornerback
Quinyon Mitchell grabbed four interceptions, returning two for touchdowns, to lead Toledo to a decisive 52-32 victory over the Huskies. Mitchell returned two of his three first-half interceptions for touchdowns as Toledo bolted out to a 35-7 lead at the break. The four interceptions were the first four of Mitchell's career, tied the school record set back in 1950, and was the first time a Rocket had two pick sixes in one game.
In addition to Mitchell's heroics, Toledo had a dominating performance on offense. Sophomore quarterback
Dequan Finn completed 13-of-19 passes for 167 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore
Jerjuan Newton led the receiving corps with five catches for 89 yards and a career-best two touchdowns. Sophomore
Jacquez Stuart rushed for 73 yards and one score on 11 attempts.
Kent State (2-4, 1-1 MAC) is coming off a 27-24 loss at Miami last week. The Golden Flashes, picked to finish second in the MAC East Division, beat Ohio, 31-24, at home on Oct. 1. They lead the MAC in rushing (200.7) and rank second in total offense (437.2).Tthe KSU offense is led by junior quarterback Collin Schlee (second in MAC in QB efficiency) and junior running back Marquez Cooper (542 yards, six TDs).

   • Toledo's victory at NIU was the 49th of
Jason Candle's career as head coach, moving him into fourth place on Toledo's all-time list ahead of Frank Lauterbur (48 wins from 1963-70).Â
