TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team will host its second invitational of the fall season this weekend at Shadow Valley Tennis Club. The Everybody vs. Cancer Invitational will feature Toledo, Duquesne, IUPUI, Case Western, Marquette and Denison.

"This is a huge weekend for us that will serve several purposes," head coach Al Wermer said. "The cancer awareness tournament extends meaning beyond the court. Stjepan Sisko will be in town for his Varsity T Hall of Fame induction and will draw some of his former teammates in for support. Beyond that, the tournament is a big warmup for our ITA Regionals next weekend."

Most recently, Krzysztof Wetoszka, senior Marko Galic and juniors Pawit Sornlaksup and Adam Kovac represented Toledo at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. on Oct. 1-4. Wetoszka, Galic and Kovac all lost in the consolation singles bracket and Sornlaksup made it to the Round of 64 before being defeated prior to the main draw.

This Everybody vs. Cancer Invitational is held to recognize those who've battled with cancer and to help support the American Cancer Society fundraising efforts. Participating teams, coaches and athletes will be wearing specialty t-shirts throughout the tournament that feature the names of those in their lives who have battled cancer.
