Rockets Fall to Kent State in Overtime, 2-1

TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo came up on the short end of a 2-1 (OT) decision to Kent State (6-3-1, 2-0-1 MAC) on Thursday evening in a tightly-contested game at Paul Hotmer Field. The defeat was the Rockets' first in four overtime contests this season and drops their overall record to 7-2-2 (2-1-0 MAC).

"Tough loss for our team tonight," Head Coach T.J. Buchholz said. "Kent State did a great job of taking us out of what we wanted to do on the attack tonight. I am proud to see us bounce back and tie the game in the second half. Olivia Dault scored a tremendous goal to get us back in the game. I thought we were better in the second half and even at the start of overtime. Credit to Kent State for finding a way to win. We will regroup from this and get ready to go on the road to face a good Ohio team on Sunday."

Sophomore Callie Cunningham put the Golden Flashes in front in the 32nd minute when she scored following a goal-mouth scramble. Freshman Olivia Dault evened the score at 1-1 when she took a pass from classmate McKcKenna Schultz and blasted her team-high fifth goal of the season into the net.

Freshman Alisa Arthur registered the game-winner in overtime when she hit the post and then knocked her own rebound into an open goal.

Kent State held a 12-9 advantage in shots and an 8-4 cushion in shots on goal. Sophomore Emma Boutorwick registered six saves in the defeat.

Toledo is back in action on Sunday, Oct. 3 when it travels to Athens, Ohio to face Ohio University.
