ATHENS, Ohio – The University of Toledo women's volleyball team lost its Mid-American Conference opener on Friday in three sets.

Junior Olivia Vance led Toledo with seven kills, while sophomore Taylor Alt and junior Sina Uluave were close behind with six terminations. Vance also led all players with five blocks. Freshman Elaine Redman registered 16 assists and eight digs, and junior Ryann Jaqua had a team-high 18 digs.

Toledo (9-4, 0-1 MAC) and Ohio (1-11, 1-0 MAC) will play again tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.

Set 1 (Ohio, 25-14)
Toledo used a 5-0 run to take an 8-5 lead early on. Later, Ohio went on a 5-0 run of its own to take a 12-10 lead and wouldn't look back for the remainder of the set. Ohio scored 15 of the final 18 points to win 25-14 and take a 1-0 lead in the match.

Set 2 (Ohio, 26-24)
The second set was the closest of the night thanks to a late Rocket comeback. Trailing 23-18, the Midnight Blue and Gold scored six of the next seven points to tie the score at 24-24. Back-to-back blocks helped Toledo pull within two, then a service ace from Alt and a pair of Ohio errors helped bring the score to a stalemate. The Bobcats were able to score the next two points, however, to win 26-24 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Set 3 (Ohio, 25-19)
Toledo held its latest lead of the match in the third set, with a kill from Uluave putting UT ahead 14-13. But the Bobcats scored the next six points to surge ahead, 19-14, and held a lead for the remained of the match. OU's Olivia Margolies registered the final point of the night, her match-high 13th kill, to send the Rockets off with a loss.
