Toledo Teeing Off 2021-22 Campaign at Wolverine Invitational

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo women's golf team is set to travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. for Michigan's Wolverine invitational on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 13-14. The Rockets will be playing at the par-71, 6,232-yard U-M Golf Course. Monday's action will consist of 36 holes with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday with another 8:45 a.m. shotgun start.
"We are excited to have the opportunity to compete in the Wolverine Invitational," Head Coach Jenny Coluccio said. "Michigan always hosts a strong field with teams from across the country. We are eager to see how we stack up."
Coluccio said her squad is ready to open the season after playing abbreviated schedules the last two years.
"The year already feels different after experiencing the energy of the Solheim Cup and seeing the support for women's golf in Toledo," Coluccio said. "The energy in our program is elevated overall in anticipation for the year to come. After two years of shortened seasons due to Covid, we are all are eager for a full year of competition."
The Field
The Rockets will be competing against an extremely challenging field that includes 12 schools that were ranked in the Top 60 of last season's final Golfstat rankings. Leading the way is No. 17 Virginia Tech followed by No. 19 Virginia, No. 21 Kent State, No. 26 Michigan, No. 31 Kentucky, No. 33 Northwestern, No. 38 Iowa State, No. 45 Louisville, No. 47 Illinois, No. 49 Washington, No. 51 Nebraska and No. 60 Ohio State. The remaining schools in the field are Indiana, Notre Dame and Xavier.
This Week's Lineup
The Rockets' lineup will include sophomore Macy Hanus at No. 1, sophomore Angel Hii at No. 2, freshman Yedam Lee at No. 3, junior Amelia Lee at No. 4, and sophomore Cheryl Hong at No. 5. Hii topped the Rockets in the Coronavirus-pandemic shortened 2021 campaign with a 76.4 stroke average in six tournaments.
