Toledo, BGSU Set to Battle at Fifth Third Field

TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo baseball team and Bowling Green open their weekend series on Friday night with a game at Fifth Third Field. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be televised locally on BCSN.

Friday's game will be the first of four between the Rockets and Falcons this weekend. The series will continue at Scott Park on Saturday with a seven-inning doubleheader beginning at noon and will conclude with a 1:00 p.m. game on Sunday. All games this weekend will be available for streaming on ESPN3 and will also be televised on BCSN.

General admission tickets for Friday are available for $8.00 and special student-priced tickets are available for $5.00 with the use of a promo code. Vaccine Clinic Will be Held Prior to Friday's Game
The University of Toledo, Bowling Green State University, and the Toledo Mud Hens are teaming up with the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department and the Wood County Health Department for a vaccine clinic on Friday, May 14 at Fifth Third Field.

The two-hour clinic will begin at 5:00 p.m. outside the home plate entrance at Fifth Third Field and is open to anyone 18 years of age or older. Participants will receive the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. No appointment is necessary.


Rocket Notes
  • Chris Meyers Leads the MAC in home runs (13), RBI (42), doubles (16), and slugging percentage (.758), and is second in batting average (.376), on-base percentage (.500), and runs scored (43).
  • Meyers ranks eighth in the nation in slugging percentage and is one of just three players in the top ten to have played at least 40 games.
  • The last two meetings with Bowling Green have resulted in sweeps. The Falcons won all three games against the Rockets in 2019 (March 23-24) and Toledo won all three games on the final weekend of the 2018 season, securing a spot in the MAC Tournament.
  • As a team, Toledo leads the MAC in home runs (53) and slugging (.456). No other team in the league has more than 37 home runs (Kent State and Western Michigan)
  • Toledo has played seven MAC doubleheaders this season and has won the second game in each twin bill.

Chris Meyers has 13 home runs entering this weekend's series against Bowling Green, three away from breaking the single-season record of 15, held by Ross Adolph (2018) and Mike Ernst (2000) and he has 13games to get there.

Scouting Bowling Green
The Falcons are 13-26 overall with an 11-18 record in MAC play entering this weekend's series, most recently suffering a series sweep against Eastern Michigan. Adam Furnas has been BG's best hitter this season, leading the team with a .352 batting averaged and a .467 slugging percentage while tallying 21 RBIs. The pitching staff sports a cumulative ERA of 6.40.
