Support UToledo Athletics' 2021 Day of Giving Efforts

TOLEDO, Ohio – As part of The University of Toledo's fourth annual Day of Giving on Wednesday, April 7, the Rocket Athletic Department is encouraging alumni, fans, family and friends to participate in its Day of Giving efforts. Donations to the Athletic Department Progress Fund will go towards the Refueling the Rockets campaign to help offset the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, support opportunities for students and to support athletic programs for our 400 student-athletes in 16 varsity sports.

Vice President and Athletic Director Mike O'Brien said support for the Refueling the Rockets campaign has helped offset the decline in revenue this past year due to the elimination of ticket sales at home games and the loss of revenues typically associated with hosting those events, such as sponsorships, advertising, concession sales, etc.  
 
"The response from Rocket Nation this past year has been terrific," said O'Brien. "We are fortunate in that we have always had tremendous community support for our program, but never has that been more apparent than during the current pandemic. We very much appreciate any further donations that will be made during the annual Day of Giving on April 7 which will help us maintain the best possible athletic and academic experience for our student-athletes."

Donors will have the option to give to the Athletic Department Progress Fund for COVID-19 relief, the Rocket Fund or any program of their choice come Day of Giving. The campaign begins Wednesday, April 7 at 12:01 a.m. and continues through noon on Thursday, April 8.
