Rockets Heading to Florida to Play Six Games This Weekend

TOLEDO, Ohio - The University of Toledo softball team will head to Leesburg, Fla. to participate in The Spring Games on Friday-Sunday, March 5-7. The Rockets (3-2) will play six games over a span of three days and look to build upon a solid showing during their season-opening weekend at Mercer's Black & Orange Challenge in Macon, Ga. SCOUTING STETSON
Stetson has a 1-3 win-loss mark with two defeats coming to No. 12 Kentucky last weekend. Sophomore Chloe Temples picked up the Hatters' line victory in an 8-6 win over FIU and has a 2.63. ERA in 16.0 innings. At the plate, sophomore Brianna Clary leads the Hatters with a .400 batting average with senior Riley Russell hitting .333.

SCOUTING MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE
MTSU is 2-6 with wins over New Mexico State (Feb. 12) and SIU Edwardsville (Feb. 26). Senior Amber Baldwin has been the Blue Raiders' primary starter, posting a 1-2 mark and a 2.73 ERA in 25.2 innings. She has allowed two runs or less in three of four starts. Freshman Amaya Harris and sophomore Kelci Hill are MTSU's only hitters with a .300 hitting mark or higher.

North Dakota holds a 3-4 record with two wins at Southern and one at Southern Mississippi. Junior Jannay Jones leads the Fighting Hawks In the circle with a 2-0 ledger and 0.88 ERA in 16.0 innings. Junior Jocelyn Kirk leads UND with a .333 batting average and four stolen bases.
SCOUTING SOUTH DAKOTA
South Dakota is 1-5 this season and played its only games vs. Southeastern Louisiana and Nicholls. The Coyotes have enjoyed success offensively with redshirt freshman Makayla Tsagalis and sophomore Charis Black leading the way with .417 and .400 hitting marks, respectively. South Dakota possess a team ERA of 8.85 with senior Sarah Sisko possessing a team-best 4.58 ERA.

SCOUTING NEW MEXICO STATE
New Mexico State (3-10) has played 13 games in the Sunshine State with its most recent contest a 6-2 defeat to No. 6 Florida. The Aggies also have three losses at No. 24 UCF and two setbacks vs. No. 11 Kentucky. Redshirt freshman Hailey Tanori tops the team in batting average (.361), hits (13) and doubles (5). Redshirt freshman Matalasi Faapito has been NMSU's primary starter and holds a 2-5 mark with a 4.90 ERA.

FGCU (6-8) has notched two wins each against UConn and Florida A&M and one apiece vs. UCF and Northern Illinois. Senior Taylor Bauman has posted a team-best 2.45 ERA with four complete games in the circle. She also has collected a team-high eight RBI and a team-best .447 slugging percentage.

The Rockets will open their MAC schedule with their first eight games on the road. Toledo will first head to Kent State to play four against the Golden Flashes on Friday-Sunday, March 19-21 before visiting Buffalo for another four-game series on Friday-Sunday, March 26-28.

- Sophomore McKenna Schmidt also picked up a victory in Georgia and has a 0.00 ERA in 3.1 innings pitched.
- Freshman Arika Reed leads Toledo with a .500 batting average (5-for-10) and three stolen bases. She is also tied for first with three runs scored.
- Senior Dayna Denner has been the Rockets' best source of power with a team-best .765 slugging percentage and two homers to go along with a .353 hitting mark.
- Two more newcomers have made an impact as well with freshman Jenna Kroll hitting .333 and junior transfer Aleah Marra registering a .286 mark.
