Rockets Fall to RedHawks, 5-2

TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo baseball team wrapped up its weekend series at Miami with a 5-2 loss to the RedHawks.
"I'm very disappointed in the offense today," head coach Rob Reinstetle said. "We had their starter on the ropes and couldn't get the big hit. As the game went on, we didn't adjust well to what they were doing to us. We have to be better on the hitting side, regardless of how we pitch."
Toledo and Miami were tied through five, but the RedHawks scored one in the sixth and two in the seventh to win Sunday's game and the series.
Mason Sykes went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Rockets and drove in a run. Danny O'Reilly added two hits and John Servello went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. Five different pitchers saw time on the mound for Toledo: Connor Brandon, Jack Olberding, Jason Young, Sam Servello, and Bryce Davis. Brandon started the game and threw 3.1 innings while striking out three.
"We used a number of pitchers today and I thought they all threw the ball well," Reinstetle said. "That group needs to build on that and hopefully gain some confidence as we prepare for next weekend and beyond."
The Rockets visit Ball State next weekend for a four-game series in Muncie.
