DAVIDSON, N.C. – The University of Toledo baseball team came up on the losing end of both games of its doubleheader with Davidson on Saturday.

The Wildcats won game one, 8-1, before taking game two, 12-2. Davidson took early leads in both games while the Rockets struggled to find their footing at the plate.

In game one,
Chris Meyers and
Mason Sykes recorded two hits apiece, and Meyers drove in the lone Toledo run. The Miamisburg, Ohio native also started the game on the mound for Toledo, while
Kyle Jones and
Jamie Myers saw time out of the bullpen.

Davidson got off to a strong start in game two and didn't look back.
Zach Schwartzenberger launched a two-run home run to account for both Toledo runs. Six pitchers saw time on the mound for the Midnight Blue and Gold, though
Cal McAninch was the only pitcher to escape unscathed, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Toledo and Davidson will wrap up their weekend series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Game 1 – Davidson 8, Toledo 1
- Davidson drew first blood in game one of Saturday's doubleheader, plating a run in the bottom of the first to take an early 1-0 lead.
- Alex Fedje-Johnson's RBI double to right field in the bottom of the third put the Wildcats up, 2-0.
- Davidson played small ball in the fourth inning, utilizing a squeeze bunt to bring in its third run of the game and put the Rockets in a 3-0 hole. The scoring opportunity came about due to two self-inflicted errors by Toledo. The inning started with a hit batsman, then an infield single turned into runners at the corners due to a UT error.
- The Rockets got on the board in the top of the sixth with an RBI double from Meyers, who ripped a 2-1 pitch down the left field line to drive in Darryn Davis and make the score 3-1. Davis reached base with a two-bagger of his own before coming around to score two batters later.
- Davidson's John Hosmer answered back with a solo shot in the bottom half of the inning.
- The final blow came off the bat of Ruben Fontes, who smacked a two-out grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning to make it 8-1.
- Toledo wasn't without chances late in the game. The top of the seventh ended with runners stranded on first and second, as did the top of the ninth.

Game 2 – Davidson  12, Toledo 2
- The Rockets got off to a rough start in game two, allowing six runs in the bottom of the first. Davidson took advantage of three walks and a hit batsman to take an early lead, with Hosmer providing the big swing in the form of a two-out grand slam to left field.
- Davidson added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to extend its lead to 9-0. Two of those runs came in on wild pitches and the third came home on a sac fly to left field.
- Both of the Rockets' runs came around to score in the top of the seventh on a two-run home run off the bat of Schwartzenberger. His two-out dinger brought home Hatfield to make it 9-2.
- Davidson's Ryan Wilson answered with a two-run homer of his own in the bottom half of the seventh.
- The final run of the day scored on a sac fly in the bottom of the eighth to put the Wildcats' lead at 12-2.
