OXFORD, Ohio – Toledo scored the first goal of the game but dropped a 3-1 decision at Miami on Thursday afternoon at the Miami University Soccer Field.
Â
Sophomore
Ellie Pool put Toledo on the board first but the Rockets couldn't hold off the Redhawks. Pool took a pass from sophomore
Madison Medalle and scored her fourth goal of the season on Toledo's first shot at the 9:35 mark. The RedHawks answered back though with back-to-back goals in a five-minute span to take a one-goal lead into halftime. Miami (7-3-3, 4-1-0 MAC) added one more goal late in the second half to secure the 3-1 win.
Â
Pool topped Toledo (7-4-2, 2-3-0 MAC) with four of the team's six shots, two being on goal.
Â
"It was a tough loss today," Head Coach T.J. Buchholz said. "We started strong, and it was a great way to have Mojo (Medalle) and Ellie (Pool) get us started early. Unfortunately, we just didn't play well after that and Miami really was the aggressor the rest of the game."
Â
Toledo returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 10 when it hosts Ball State at Paul Hotmer Field. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. with streaming on ESPN3.
