MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. –The Toledo softball team (11-12) split a pair of games on Thursday, giving a dominant performance against Merrimack in the first game of the day, an 11-1 victory in five innings at The Spring Games in Madeira Beach, Fla. The Rockets then put up a fight against Big-10 member Indiana before falling, 3-0.
After today's second game, the Rockets received the sad news that their 2020 season was over. The Mid-American Conference announced Thursday evening that all spring sports seasons had been canceled due to concerns about the spread of the Coronavirus.
"It's an absolute shame for our seniors," said head coachÂ
Joe Abraham. "However, we have a worldwide crisis, so our games must be kept in perspective. We got to finish off the season playing at Tennessee's beautiful stadium and on Madeira Beach in sunny and 75. That's not a bad way to go out."
Game One
It was a team effort all around against Merrimack, as nine different Rockets scored. Junior
Dayna Denner (three RBIs) and senior
Morgan Paaverud (two RBIs) each hit a home run in the win, while sophomore

Leah Munson brought in one run each. Junior
Erin Hunt earned her ninth win in the circle for the Midnight Blue and Gold, striking out four and allowing one hit.
