Rockets Set to Extinguish UIC Flames

TOLEDO, Ohio - The University of Toledo women's tennis team is set to host UIC on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Twos Athletic Club. This will be the Rockets final home match before they lift off for their spring training trip to Georgia and South Carolina.
Last Time Out
The Rockets posted 7-0 sweeps of Saint Francis and Findlay in their doubleheader on Saturday. In the afternoon session with Saint Francis, the Rockets took the doubles point with a 6-0 sweep from senior Dee Dee Leenabanchong/sophomore Eileen Carney on the No. 1 court and a 6-3 win on the No. 2 court from graduate student Zina Mehikic/freshman Sloane Teske. In singles action Leenabanchong, junior Patricia Panta, Teske, and freshman Laura Morera posted two-set victories while Carney earned a three-set win on the No. 2 court. The Rockets won by forfeit on the No. 6 court.
In the evening session against Findlay, the Rockets posted wins on all three doubles courts. In singles action Leenabanchong, Carney, Teske, Panta, Morera, and Mehikic all tallied two-set victories over the Oilers.
Last Time Against UIC
Toledo defeated UIC, 6-1, on March 17, 2018 in the Glass City. The Rockets earned the doubles point with 6-0 sweeps on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts from Colleen O'Brien/Leenabanchong and Megan Miller/Thalita Rodrigues. In singles play, O'Brien, Kokoro Chishaki, Claire Aleck, and Rodrigues posted three-set victories from the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 courts, respectively.

The Flames are 4-2 (0-0 Horizon League) with wins over Illinois State, Chicago State, Valparaiso, and Louisiana.
Freshman Izzy Marshall boasts an undefeated record of 5-0 (0-0 Horizon League) in singles dual match action, primarily from the No. 4 court. Following Marshall is senior Karyna Bihel, who has gone 4-1 (0-0 Horizon League) from the No. 2 court. In doubles action, junior Lucie Prochazkova/sophomore Nell Arendt boast a 3-0 (0-0 Horizon League) record from the No. 2 court.
Last season the Flames went 20-6 (8-1 Horizon League), notching sweeps against Cardinal Stritch, Northern Illinois, Detroit Mercy, IUPUI, and Green Bay. UIC also posted 4-3 edge-outs of Illinois State, Western Michigan, Wright State, and Cleveland State. In the Horizon League Championship, No. 1 seeded UIC defeated No. 5 seeded Wright State, 4-1 in the semifinals. The Flames advanced to the NCAA Tournament after sweeping No. 2 seeded Cleveland State. No. 16 Michigan extinguished the Flames' tournament berth with a 4-0 sweep.
