SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The Toledo baseball team wrapped up play at the Alamo Irish Classic on Saturday, beating Incarnate Word, 11-10 in extra innings, before dropping game two to Notre Dame, 9-2.
The win over the Cardinals was the first of the season for the Rockets and the first for rookie head coach
Rob Reinstetle.
"It certainly wasn't an easy win, but I'm glad we got one in that column finally," Reinstetle said. "The offense carried the day and my hat goes off to all the hitters, they never gave in and never quit. They answered every call and found a way to outscore our opponents. Everyone in the lineup contributed to this win, I'm so proud of the way they battled.
Nate Haugh worked his way through some tough spots on the mound and did a good job. We didn't pitch the way we're capable of or play great defense, but baseball is a team game and the offense picked us up today."
Next up for Toledo is a four-game weekend series at Alabama State.

Jordan Power threw the ball really well, which was great to see," Reinstetle said. "We were in a close game into the fifth inning, but it just got away from us. They had a couple lucky hits fall in and we couldn't make some plays to limit the damage. Â We knocked their starter out early, but their reliever did a good job of silencing our hot bats."
