TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo utilized a balanced effort en route to posting a 75-65 victory against Detroit Mercy on Saturday in Savage Arena. With the double-digit triumph, the Midnight Blue & Gold improves to 2-0 on the season.Â

Quinesha Lockett paced four Rockets in double figures with 17 points, followed closely by freshman
Sammi Mikonowicz, sophomore
Sophia Wiard and freshman
Khera Goss with 15, 14 and 13 points, respectively.Â
Mikonowicz added a game-high 13 rebounds to record her first-collegiate double-double.
As a team,Toledo connected on 41.4 percent (24-of-58) from the field and 67.7 percent (21-of-31) from the charity stripe to win back-to-back games to begin the year for the second time in the last five seasons. The Rockets also finished with a commanding 44-33 rebounding advantage and tallied 22 points off 16 UDM turnovers.
Kaela Webb led the Titans (0-4) with a game-high 29 points, while Sylare Starks had 13.
FIRST QUARTER
• Toledo utilized a late 11-2 run to assume a 19-15 lead at the end of the opening quarter. Goss sparked the rally with seven-consecutive points to give the home team a four-point cushion.
SECOND QUARTER
• The Titans knotted the score at 19-19 at the outset of the period, but the Rockets once again took advantage of an 11-2 burst to open up a 30-21 lead at the 4:40 mark. Senior
Tatyana Davis and Lockett fueled the pivotal rally with back-to-back triple to put Toledo in front for good.
• The Rockets did not let their lead slip below six for the remainder of the opening half, as they carried a 36-27 advantage into intermission.
• Goss paced Toledo with 10 points in her first collegiate start in the first half, followed by Lockett and Wiard with eight and six, respectively.
• Webb led Detroit Mercy with a game-high 11 points in the opening 20 minutes.Â
THIRD QUARTER
• Toledo quickly extended its lead to 18 points, 48-30, on the strength of a 12-3 run to begin the second stanza. Mikonowicz and Wiard accounted for four points each in the early moments after the break to force the Titans to burn a timeout.
• The stoppage in play did not slow down the Rockets though, as they continued to pour it on and took a commanding 60-40 advantage into the final quarter. The big dagger for Toledo was a triple from freshman
Mickayla Perdue as the period ended to make it a 20-point difference.Â
FOURTH QUARTER
• The Rockets put it on cruise control over the final 10 minutes and did not allow their advantage to fall below double digits, as they tallied their ninth win in the last 10 meetings against the Titans.

• Toledo will open Mid-American Conference play at Northern Illinois (2-1) on Thursday, Dec. 10. The opening tip against the Huskies is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (CT) in the Convocation Center.
