Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Rockets Stitch Together a 4-0 Win Over Detroit Mercy

DETROIT - Led by a hat trick by freshman Stephanie Currie, the Toledo women's soccer team (3-5-0) came out victorious in a heated match with Detroit Mercy (2-6-0) Sunday night in Detroit.

After a scoreless first half that saw minimal opportunities for both teams, Currie took control of the game in the 59th minute, grabbing a loose ball at the top of the 18 and burying it into the back of the net. Currie added another one just 11 minutes later when she took a long shot from outside of the box and put it into the upper 90. The Grand Rapids, Mich. native notched her third goal of the night in the 72nd minute of the game, taking a long shot from the corner of the box.

Senior Abby Demboski added her second goal of the season, converting a penalty kick in the 71st minute.

QUOTE FROM HEAD COACH TJ BUCHHOLZ
"I'm happy that our team bounced back from a tough weekend out in California. We had a great week of practice focusing on our attack. Detroit's a very physical team and put us into some tough situations, but we were able to find those opportunities in the second half and put the game away."
