How it Happened
- Toledo trailed, 2-0, after one inning. The first Kent State run scored on a single through the left side of the infield, and the second came around on a bloop base hit to left field.
- Schwartzenberger tied the game at 2-2 with a two-run shot to right field, his second home run of the season.
- Toledo took a 4-2 lead after scoring twice in the top of the third. After Boss singled, he came around to score on a triple from Hatfield. Freshman Darryn Davis then drove in Hatfield with a ground ball to the shortstop to put Toledo up by two.
- Kent State took the lead in the bottom of the third with a four-run inning. A two-run single tied the game at 4-4, then a 6-4-3 double play allowed the runner at third to score and put the Golden Flashes on top. A two-out, solo home run made it 6-4.
- A leadoff walk in the bottom of the fifth came around to bite the Rockets, as a base hit up the middle scored the leadoff man to make the score 7-4 in favor of Kent State.
- Meyers brought the Rockets to within two with a solo home run in the top of the seventh. His fifth homer of the year made it 7-5.
- Kent State broke the game open with a four-run seventh inning. An RBI triple, bases-loaded walk, and a two-run single all came with two outs to put Toledo in an 11-5 hole. That would hold as the final score.
