Last Time Out
Toledo won its final home game of the season on Tuesday, defeating Purdue Fort Wayne by a score of 13-8.

The Rockets trailed, 8-6, entering the bottom of the sixth, but scored six runs in that inning to take the lead for good. Sophomore David Jeffers had a career day, going 3-for-5 at the plate with a career-high five RBI. Freshman Darryn Davis went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, and fellow newcomers Mark Mohnickey and Thomas Eitniear both drove in two runs, scored twice, and walked twice.

Rocket Notes
  • The Rockets are officially eliminated from MAC Tournament contention. Last weekend's conference series with NIU featured the first MAC games the Rockets have played without postseason implication since 2006. Toledo has been in the hunt for a postseason berth until the final game of the regular season each year since then.
  • Sophomore Chris Meyers has led the Rockets in hitting over the last 20 games, batting .305 with four home runs and 12 RBI while slugging .549.
  • Senior Brad Boss has done damage with the bat when it matters most, hitting .348 with runners on base and .545 with the bases loaded.
  • Freshman Kyle Jones has been clutch on the mound when the stakes are high. He is holding opponents to a .105 batting average with runners on base.

Scouting the Competition
Ball State enters the weekend still in the hunt for a MAC regular-season crown, with a record of 17-5 in conference games and 33-17 overall. The Cardinals are two games out in the win column from Central Michigan and have won eight of their last nine league games. BSU's pitching has been its strong suit this spring, leading the country in strikeouts per nine innings (11.3). Junior pitcher John Baker recently earned MAC Player of the Week honors after throwing 7.0 innings in a combined no-hitter last weekend against Ohio. Ball State is 20-1 at home this season.
