Pitched in 14 games, making 13 starts…63.2 innings pitched were second-most on the team…Season-high seven strikeouts at Davidson (March 2)…Earned the win against Bucknell, tossing six innings while allowing two runs and striking out two…Threw six innings against Miami and struck out five while allowing three runs, earning the win…Third win of the season came at Ohio, where he pitched five innings and struck out four…Recorded six punchouts in six innings while allowing two runs against Northern Illinois (May 10).

PRIOR TO TOLEDO
Smith comes to UT from Cuyahoga Community College. In 2016, he posted a record of 8-3 with a 2.21 ERA in 61 innings pitched. He struck out 60 batters in 12 appearances on the mound, recording a season-high seven strikeouts on three separate occasions. In his debut with Cuyahoga he threw five innings, striking out six and walking just one. He tossed a season-best seven innings three times. He also earned Ohio Community College Athletic Conference player of the week honors that season.
