How it Happened
- The Rockets took a 4-0 lead after a four-run second inning. Eitniear drove in a run with a double into the gap in left-center, then Jeffers tallied a bases-clearing double into the gap as well that gave UT an early lead.
- The Mastodons weren't down for long. They tied the game at 4-4 with a four-run third inning, highlighted by a two-out, game-tying home run to right field.
- Davis answered right back with a two-run shot to right field, his third home run of the season. His homer made the score 6-4 through three innings.
- Toledo ran into a bit of trouble in the top of the fifth. A bases-loaded single scored one run, a wild pitch tied the game at 6-6, then PFW took an 8-6 lead with a two-run double.
- The Rockets took the lead back for good with a six-run bottom of the sixth. A sacrifice fly from Davis made the score 8-7, then Purdue Fort Wayne walked four straight batters to bring in the tying and go-ahead runs for UT. Jeffers tacked on two runs with a two-out single up the middle to put Toledo on top, 12-8.
- Myers entered the game in the top of the seventh and, after allowing PFW to load the bases with one out, proceeded to strike out the next two hitter she faced to escape unscathed.
- Mohnickey singled to center field in the bottom of the seventh and scored Davis, putting the score at 13-8.
- McAtee ended the game with two scoreless innings, striking out the final two hitters of the afternoon.
