East Lansing, Mich.— The Toledo baseball team dropped its Wednesday night contest at Michigan State by a score of 4-2.

The Rockets held a lead entering the bottom of the fourth, but surrendered two runs in that inning and two in the fifth to fall behind and weren't able to recover. Of the four runs scored by the Spartans, three touched home due to Toledo wild pitches.

Sophomore Chris Meyers went 2-for-4, while senior Brad Boss and sophomore John Servello both drove in runs. Sophomore Bryce Davis started the game for UT and registered 3.2 solid innings while striking out five. Sophomore Kyle Bischoff, junior Austin Calopietro, freshman Aric McAtee, and freshman Jeff Dunsmore all saw action on the mound as well.

Toledo visits MAC foe Eastern Michigan this weekend in Ypsilanti.

How it Happened

Servello put Toledo ahead, 1-0, with an RBI double in the top of the first. Sophomore Trace Hatfield reached base with a bunt single, then came around to score on Servello's double into the gap in right-center.
Davis put together a strong first three innings, stranding three MSU runners on base and striking out five. The sophomore struck out the side in the second.
The Spartans scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to take a 2-1 lead. A sacrifice fly brought in the tying run and a two-out wild pitch allowed the go-ahead run to score.
Michigan State scored twice in the bottom of the fifth on UT wild pitches to extend its lead to 4-1.
Boss cut into the deficit with an RBI double in the top of the sixth. His two-bagger deep into the gap in left-center field scored Meyers and made the score 4-2.
The Rockets were not devoid of offensive chances, but stranded runners on base to end the sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth innings. Toledo had the bases loaded in the top of the ninth, but was unable to capitalize.
