Toledo, Ohio - The Toledo men's tennis team fell 6-1 to Northern Illinois at Shadow Valley Tennis Club on Sunday afternoon.

"We'll respond to this well," said head coach Al Wermer. "We'll set our sights on the tournament. It's a new season. It will be fun."

The Rockets dropped the doubles point early despite senior Juan Carranza's and freshman Cole Shoults' 6-3 victory over Erich Schuette/Eric Marbach on the No. 3 court.

In singles action, senior Luka Vitosevic earned the Rockets' sole point, sweeping Marbach 7-5, 6-4 on the No. 1 court.

The Rockets will compete in the first round of the Mid-American Conference tournament on Friday, April 19 in Kalamazoo, Mich.
