Toledo Falls 4-0 to Ball State in MAC Tournament

Kalamazoo, Mich. - The Toledo men's tennis team fell 4-0 to No. 5 seed Ball State in MAC Tournament quarterfinal action at the West Hills Athletic Club in Kalamazoo, Mich. on Friday. With the loss, the Rockets' 2018-19 season comes to a close.

"Our doubles was a bit tight. The singles response was positive," said head coach Al Wermer. "The guys were resilient. We just ran out of time today."

The No. 4 seed Rockets dropped the doubles point early, despite senior Vince Anzalone and junior Danilo Vukotic's 6-3 win over Thibault de Negri and Tom Carney on the No. 2 court.

Over on the No. 2 court, Vukotic fell in the first set 0-6 to Nemanja Guzina before mustering a comeback in the second 6-3. Vukotic's match was left unfinished 2-1 in the third. Anzalone won his first set 7-5 over de Negri at the No. 3 spot before the second set was left unfinished 2-5. Junior Thawin Suksathaporn was leading Conner Andersen 7-6(7-5), 1-0 on the No. 5 court before the match was called.

Time was not on the Rockets' side in singles play though, as Ball State wore away at their defenses, stacking wins on the No. 6, No. 5, and No. 1 courts to clinch the match.
