How it Happened
- Youngstown State started off the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead.
- The Penguins extended their lead with two runs in the bottom of the third. After retiring the first two batters, UT allowed a pair of runs on an RBI single and a wild pitch to fall behind, 3-0.
- An RBI single in the bottom of the fifth added another run to YSU's lead and made the score 4-0.
- Toledo got a couple runs back in the top of the sixth. Meyers hustled out a triple to drive in the first run, then he scored on a ground ball to the second baseman.
- Youngstown State extended its lead to 5-2 with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh.
- The Rockets had multiple promising offensive chances in the top of the ninth. UT loaded the bases with no outs, bringing the go-ahead run to the plate. One run would come in to score on a ground ball to second base, but that would be it for Toledo.
