Rockets Challenge The Citadel in Thursday Match

Toledo, Ohio - The Toledo men's tennis team will finish its spring break run in Charleston, S.C. on Thursday, March 7 with a match against The Citadel at 2:30 p.m.

The Rockets traveled to Conway, S.C. at the beginning of break, challenging Coastal Carolina and Ashland. Both matches were played at the Stevens Tennis Complex on Coastal Carolina's campus.

On Saturday, the Rockets fell 7-0 to CCU. Juniors Danilo Vukotic and Thawin Suksathaporn, as well as senior Omar Espinosa, started out strong in their singles matches by winning their first sets before falling in the second and third.

The Rockets faced Ashland on Tuesday and swept the Eagles 7-0. Â Five Rockets posted two-set sweeps in singles action while senior Vince Anzalone won his match in three. Duos Anzalone/Vukotic and senior Juan Carranza/freshman Cole Shoults claimed victories on the No. 2 and No.3 courts to clinch the doubles point.

Last Time Against The Citadel
The Rockets last met with the Bulldogs on Mar. 5, 2008, where they fell 5-2. Â Nutthavit Likitkumchorn and Jayson Miller scored the Rockets' sole points on the No. 5 and No. 6 singles courts.

Scouting The Citadel
Currently the Bulldogs are 6-14 overall, capturing one 9-0 sweep over Benedict in the USC Sumter Invitational. Also in the USC Sumter Invitational, The Citadel captured wins over USC Sumter and Belmont Abbey. The Bulldogs are composed of one senior, five juniors, three sophomores, and four freshmen. Senior Roy Hobson posted a 15-23 singles record last season. Â
The Citadel finished last season with a 10-25 record with three 9-0 sweeps. Early in the season, The Citadel excelled in the USC Sumter Invitational, defeating Benedict, Coker, Erskine, USC Sumter, and Belmont Abbey. The Bulldogs fell in the first round of the Southern Conference Championships to No. 1 seeded ETSU (4-0).
