Toledo, Ohio - The Toledo women's tennis team will host Mid-American Conference opponent Akron on Saturday, March 30 at 1:00 p.m. at the UT Varsity Courts. The match is scheduled to be broadcasted on BCSN and ESPN3. In case of inclement weather, the match will be moved to Twos Athletic Club and will not be broadcasted.

The Rockets opened conference play with a 5-2 win over Northern Illinois on Friday, March 22. UT started off strong, clinching the doubles point with wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts from junior

Christina Fuller's match on the No. 3 court was left tied and unfinished 4-4. In singles play, Leenabanchong, Fuller, Rodrigues, and Aleck posted two-sweeps of their opponents.

UT hosted Ball State on Sunday, March 24, falling 7-0 to the Cardinals. Freshman
Eileen Carney started off strong on the No. 2 court with a 7-6(4) win in the first set. Carney fell 5-7 in the second set, which pushed her match to a third set. Carney fell behind early and rallied before falling by a 10-6 margin.

Last Time Against Akron
UT fell 5-2 to Akron in Akron, Ohio last season. In doubles play,
Colleen O'Brien/Leenabanchong defeated Luisa Echeverry/Miruna Vasilescu 6-2, but it wasn't enough to secure the doubles point. The Rockets got on the board in singles action with Chishaki downing Luisa Echeverry 6-3, 6-2 on the No. 4 court and Rodrigues defeating Carla Flores 6-0, 6-4 on the No. 6 court. Â

Scouting Akron
Akron is 17-3 (2-0 in the MAC) and undefeated at home. The Zips have snagged five 4-3 victories, including conference wins over Miami and Bowling Green. Akron has posted six 6-1 wins and registered three straight 7-0 sweeps March 2-6 over Butler, IUPUI, and Cleveland State. The Zips' only losses have come at the hands of Pittsburgh, West Virginia, and No. 10 Ohio State.

Sophomore Miruna Vasilescu has a 15-3 dual singles record, going undefeated at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots (6-0) and 9-3 on the No. 2 court. Redshirt senior Sophia Geier has a 14-1 dual singles record, spending most of her time on the No. 1 court. Sophomore Anna Uljanov splits her time between the No. 2 and No. 3 spots and currently has a 13-4 dual singles record. Playing primarily the No. 4, 5 and 6 spots, junior Rita Pedroso has posted a 12-5 dual singles record while senior Luisa Echeverry has posted an 11-7 dual singles record, playing primarily at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots.

Last season, the Zips went 14-12 (3-5 in the MAC) with four 7-0 sweeps. Akron had 5-2 victories over Detroit Mercy, Utah State, East Tennessee State, UMKC, Oakland, and Toledo. The Zips' season ended with a 5-2 home loss to Ball State.
