Home Opener
Toledo will play its first home games this weekend against Mid-American Conference foe Western Michigan. Friday's game is slated for a 3:05 p.m. start, while Saturday and Sunday will be 1:05 p.m. contests. UT will play 22 games on the road before its first home game. Only three teams in the country have played more games before playing at home.
Last Time Out
Toledo opened up conference play last weekend against I-75 rival Bowling Green, and left on the wrong end of a series sweep. UT dropped the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, 10-6, before falling 9-6 in game two. The Rockets then lost the series finale in the bottom of the ninth, 6-5.
In Saturday's doubleheader, game one saw the bulk of its scoring come in the later innings, while game two saw offensive fireworks in the early stages. BGSU took an early 4-0 lead in the first contest and continued to score runs in bunches in the 10-6 victory over UT. In game two, the Rockets took the first lead after scoring three runs in the top of the first. But the Falcons were able to light up the scoreboard in each of the first five frames to overpower the Midnight Blue and Gold.
The Rockets led the final game of the series entering the bottom of the eighth, but the Falcons rallied to tie the game in that inning before walking off in the bottom of the ninth with an RBI single.
