Toledo, Ohio - The Toledo men's tennis team edged out Ball State, 4-3, at Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Maumee on Friday, improving its record to 9-8 on the season (2-1 in the MAC). 
 
"This was a drama-filled roller coaster," said head coach Al Wermer. "The guys were locked in from the first ball in doubles, which was huge. That tough mindset stayed with us for three-and-a-half hours."
 
The Rockets opened with doubles action, where junior Danilo Vukotic and senior Vince Anzalone defeated Tom Carney/Thibault de Negri 6-3 on the No. 2 court. The senior duo of Omar Espinosa/Luka Vitosevic clinched the doubles point by securing a 6-4 victory over twins Nemanja and Marko Guzina on the No. 1 court. 
 
UT jumped out early in singles action, earning two-set sweeps from Espinosa and Vukotic on the No. 4 and No. 2 courts to take a 3-1 lead over the Cardinals. 
 
With three courts still in play, the Rockets needed one win to clinch the match. Anzalone was the first to fall on the No. 3 court after three grueling sets against Thibault de Negri. Vitosevic and Suksathaporn were on the last two courts at the No. 1 and No. 5 spots, both fighting in three-set battles and finishing within seconds of each other. Suksathaporn fell to Chris Adams 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, but Vitosevic came out victorious against Marko Guzina  with a 6-7(8), 6-2, 6-2 triumph to clinch the match.
