South Bend, Ind.  – The University of Toledo men's tennis team fell to No. 14 Notre Dame, 7-0, on Sunday in South Bend, Ind. Â
"The timing for this match wasn't great," said head coach Al Wermer. "Notre Dame had an emotional ACC conference match earlier today and we both were missing starters with injury or illness. Nevertheless, we had a few guys that did an amazing job at staying out on the court and fighting."Â
The Rockets fought hard in doubles action, but failed to garner the doubles point. The senior duo of Omar Espinosa/Reid Teatsorth got within range of Paul Gota/Axel Nefve on the No. 2 court, but their match was left unfinished 4-5.Â
In singles action, Espinosa won his first set, 7-5, against Daniel Rayl on the No. 3 court. Rayl pushed for a third set, winning the second 6-2 over Espinosa. Espinosa was unable to secure the win and dropped the third set 0-1.
On the No. 4 court, senior Serjen Olmedo fell in his first set, 6-4, to Paul Gota, but fought to win the second 6-4. Olmedo dropped the final set 0-1 to Gota.Â
