Toledo, Ohio- Freshman Eileen Carney was named Mid-American Conference Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week on Wednesday for her performance last week.

Carney defeated Darya Maltseva at the No. 2 singles spot in Toledo's 4-3 victory over Oakland on Saturday. After dropping the first set 3-6, Carney came back to take the second and third sets 6-2 each. Carney's win clinched the match for the Rockets and is the second time the freshman has clinched the match point this season.

Carney and the Rockets open MAC play on the road at Northern Illinois on Friday at 1:00 p.m. (CT) before returning to UT to host Ball State on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
