Toledo Drops Midweek Contest at Wright State, 10-5

Dayton, Ohio— The Toledo baseball team fell to Wright State on Wednesday afternoon, 10-5.
The Rockets trailed the whole game and the bulk of its offensive production came in the middle innings. Four UT players tallied two hits: seniors Brad Boss and Riley Campbell and sophomores Chris Meyers and John Servello. Meyers also drove in two runs to lead the team. Senior Axel Bueter was the starting pitcher, and Toledo also got pitching contributions from freshman Jamie Myers, sophomore Kyle Bischoff, junior Austin Calopietro, and senior Jake Stout.
Next up for Toledo is a weekend tournament at the University of Richmond. UT will face the Spiders as well as Bryant and Quinnipiac.

How it Happened
- Wright State opened up the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first, making it 1-0 with an RBI double.
- UT fell behind 5-0 after a four-run inning for the Raiders in the bottom of the second. Two RBI singles and a two-run double did the damage.
- The Rockets' first run came in the top of the fourth when Ryan smoked an RBI double down the left field line to get the Midnight Blue and Gold on the board.
- That run was negated in the bottom of the fourth when Wright State doubled into the gap and brought in another score to make it 6-1.
- The most productive inning for the Rockets was the top of the fifth, when they scored three runs to pull within two, 6-4. Boss tallied an RBI single, Meyers recorded an RBI double, and Davis brought home a run on a sacrifice fly.
- Two run-scoring base hits extended the Raiders' lead to 8-4 in the bottom of the fifth, and two more runs in the sixth made it 10-4.
- Meyers added another run in the top of the ninth with an RBI double, scoring freshman Frank Ciacchi to make it 10-5.
