Dee Dee Leenabanchong was the first to finish at the No. 1 court, sweeping Isabella Spindler 6-3, 6-3. With Toledo dropping its matches on the No. 3 and No. 4 courts, the pressure was on freshmen

At the No. 2 position, Carney clinched her first set against Klara Mrcela 6-2 before dropping her second 4-6. Carney bounced back to take the third set 6-2. Meanwhile on the No. 5 court, Fuller took the first set over Kateryna Avram 6-3. Dropping the second set 4-6, Fuller came back to clinch a 6-2 victory in the third set.Ā

"I'm so proud of the team and the way they learned from our performance last weekend against Cincinnati," said head coach
Tracy Mauntler. "They came out with fire today and they wanted it more. I'm super proud of the freshmen pulling out those three-setters with the pressure on."Ā
