Women’s Tennis to Host Saint Francis, Cincinnati This Weekend

Toledo, Ohio - The University of Toledo women's tennis team is ready for some home action this weekend and will be hosting Saint Francis on Friday, Feb. 1 at 1:00 p.m. and Cincinnati on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 1:00 p.m. at Twos Athletic Club in Toledo.

The Rockets are ready to hit the court after a quiet week, having last played on Jan. 20 against Valparaiso. UT's battle against the Crusaders ended in a 7-0 sweep for the Rockets. Junior/freshman duo Dee Dee Leenabanchong/Kiersten Carlson and senior duo Thalita Rodrigues defeated their opponents to claim the doubles point. Leenabanchong, Chishaki, Carlson, and freshman Christina Fuller all swept their singles opponent in two sets. At the No. 3 position freshman Eileen Carney locked up a three-set thriller, defeating Valparaiso's Randi Wind 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.

Scouting Saint Francis
Last season Saint Francis was 5-12 (3-1 in the Atlantic 10). Currently, the Red Flash have a 1-3 record, their only win coming from a 4-3 victory over Morgan State. Saint Francis returns two seniors, Raksha Bode and Stephanie Miller. Bode has a 39-37 career singles record and 29-35 doubles record. In 2018 Bode earned second team All-NEC in doubles with a 9-7 record (12-11 in singles). Miller has a 36-39 career singles record, going 9-12 last season, she also had a 24-37 doubles record, going 5-8 in 2018.

In the past, Saint Francis has competed in Toledo's fall invitational, but have not faced the Rockets in dual match play.

Scouting Cincinnati
Last season Cincinnati went 11-10 (2-3 in Northeast Conference play), including one 7-0 sweep over Butler. The Bearcats fell 4-1 in the first round of the AAC Tournament to #7 Memphis. Antonella Bramato is the lone returning senior for Cincinnati and holds a 57-41 singles career record and 62-38 doubles career record. She currently is 6-5 this season in singles and 8-5 in doubles.

Last Time Against Cincinnati
The Rockets last faced Cincinnati on Feb. 16 last season, defeating the Bearcats 4-3. UT clinched the doubles point with victories from Mimi Kendall-Woseley/Thalita Rodrigues at the No. 2 spot and Colleen O'Brien/Dee Dee Leenabanchong at the No. 3 spot. In singles Kendall-Woseley and O'Brien defeated their opponents in three suspenseful sets, while Leenabanchong swept her opponent in two.
