Toledo in Second Place After Opening Round of MAC Championships

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Toledo sits in second place with a 15-over par 303 following Friday's opening round of this weekend's Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championships. The tournament is being played at the par-72, 6,092-yard Naperville Country Club.
Junior Pinyada Kuvanun is alone in fourth place in the individual standings after firing an even-par 72 to pace the Rockets. Kuvanun opened her round with 12 straight pars before registering a bogey. She then bounced back with birdies on No. 15 and No. 17 before bogeying her final hole.
Joining Kuvanun in the Top 10 is sophomore Saranlak Tumfong tied for seventh place at two-over par 74. Tumfong was at even-par through 12 holes before posting a double-bogey on the par-five No. 13 hole.
Junior Pimchanok Kawil is tied for 12th place at three-over par 75. She was at two-under par through eight holes but notched double-bogeys on No. 9 and No. 14 and a bogey on the No. 12 hole.
Rounding out the Rocket lineup are sophomore Donchanok Toburint tied for 30th place at 10-over par 82 and junior Hannah Kochendoerfer tied for 47th place at 14-over par 86.
No. 16 Kent State leads the 10-team field at six-under par 282 thanks to three individuals shooting under par. Three Golden Flashes' Pimnipa Panthong leads the field at five-under par 67 followed by teammates Chloe Salort at two-under par and Michaela Finn at one-under par.
The tournament's second round will be held tomorrow with the final round slated for Sunday.
