Rockets Remain in Second Following Day Two of MAC Championships

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Toledo remained in second place following Saturday's second round of this weekend's Mid-American Conference Championships. The tournament is being played at the par-72, 6,092-yard Naperville Country Club.
The Rockets carded a 12-over par 300 in today's action, three strokes better than yesterday's opening round total, and stand at 27-over par 603 after 36 holes. No. 16 Kent State leads the 10-team field at nine-under par 567 (282-285) and has four individuals among the top five in the 50-player field. The Golden Flashes' Pimnipa Panthong tops the field at five-under par 139 (67-72) with teammate Karoline Stormo in second place at three-under par 141 (74-67).
UT junior Pinyada Kuvanun is tied for third place at one-under par 143 (72-71) after collecting three birdies and four pars in her final seven holes. Sophomore Saranlak Tumfong also appears in the Top 10 for the Rockets and is tied for sixth place at three-over par 147 (74-73). Tumfong was two-over par in her first five holes before notching 12 pars and one birdie in her final 13 holes.
Junior Pimchanok Kawil is tied for 18th place at 10-over par 154 (75-79). She was at two-over par through 15 holes but notched double-bogeys on No. 16 and No. 18.
Junior Hannah Kochendoerfer is tied for 36th place at 19-over par 163 (86-77) and had a chance for an even better showing. She was at even-par after birdieing No. 14 but had a bogey-bogey-double bogey-bogey finish.
Rounding out the Rocket lineup is sophomore Donchanok Toburint tied for 39th place at 20-over par 164 (82-82).
The tournament's final round will be held tomorrow.
