NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Toledo (3-2) visits Ohio Valley Conference power Belmont (4-1) on Thursday, Nov. 29 for its third-consecutive game away from Savage Arena. The Rockets are 1-2 away from the friendly confines of home this year and 97-76 over the last 10-plus seasons under Head Coach
Tricia Cullop. The contest will tip off at 11:00 a.m. (CT) in the Curb Event Center and will be shown on ESPN+.
UT is coming off a 65-59 victory at Missouri Valley Conference member Valparaiso on Monday in the Athletics-Recreation Center.
Junior
Mariella Santucci poured in a season-high 20 points to help lift Toledo to the six-point road triumph. Santucci shot 6-of-13 from the field against the Crusaders, including 1-of-5 from three-point range, and 7-of-11 from the charity stripe to surpass the 20-point mark for the second time as a Rocket.
Senior
Kaayla McIntyre added 14 points for the Midnight Blue & Gold, while senior
Mikaela Boyd and junior
Sara Rokkanen had eight each.
Through the first five contests this season, McIntrye and Santucci are combining to average 26.2 points and 11.2 boards. They are shooting 50.5 percent (49-of-97) from the field and 74.4 percent (29-of-39) from the charity stripe. In all, UT has five players averaging at least 6.5 points per game.
Toledo will square off against a Belmont team that is riding a four-game winning streak, most recently securing a 71-53 triumph at Northern Kentucky on Nov. 21. Darby Maggard led four Bruins in double figures with a game-high 16 points, followed by Jenny Roy and Ellie Harmeyer with 13 each. The three-time reigning OVC champions  possess an offense with two players scoring in double figures, paced by Maggard's 16.8 ppg. The Bruins, who are ranked No. 8 in this week's collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25, are 1-0 at home this season.
UT and BU will be squaring off for the first time. Toledo is a perfect 8-0 (1.000) all-time against other Ohio Valley Conference schools (1-0 vs. Eastern Illinois; 2-0 vs. Morehead St.; 1-0 vs. Murray St.; 3-0 vs. SIU Edwardsville; 1-0 vs. Tennessee Tech), including 5-0 under Coach Cullop. The last OVC team the Rockets faced was SIU Edwardsville in the opening round of the 2012 Glass City Tournament, whom they defeated, 59-43, in Savage Arena (Dec. 1).
Following tomorrow's match-up at Belmont, Toledo will venture to American Athletic Conference (AAC) member Memphis (1-4) on Saturday, Dec. 1. The opening tip vs. the Tigers is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. (CT) in the Elma Roane Fieldhouse.
UT and Memphis will meet for the second time on the hardwood. The Rockets claimed a 71-68 overtime triumph against the Tigers on Jan. 4, 2008 in the FedEx Forum.
