TOLEDO, Ohio - The Rockets visit Notre Dame on Wednesday, April 12 for their non-conference make-up game in South Bend, Ind. at 6:05 p.m. The game will be held at Frank Eck Stadium and will available on ACC Network Extra and on WatchESPN.
Toledo (10-22, 4-5 MAC) won its last two games against Bowling Green over the weekend to win its second Mid-American Conference series in a row. After a loss in game one of a Saturday doubleheader, the Rockets offense supplied 20 runs on 23 hits in game two to post a resounding 20-4 win.
In Sunday's rubber match, the I-75 rivals needed extra innings as a ninth-inning solo home run by junior Dalton Bollinger tied the game. Bollinger hit a two-run double to give the Rockets the lead in the 10th and junior AJ Montoya connected on a two-run home run, his third of the series, to put the game away.
Bollinger lead the team with a .296 average and 37 hits. Montoya tops the squad with five home runs, 12 doubles and 28 RBIs.
Notre Dame (13-17, 7-8 ACC) dropped eight of its first nine games to start the season. In conference play, the Fighting Irish were swept by Clemson and Florida State but have recently turned things around with a three-game sweep of Georgia Tech.
Cole Daily paces the Irish with a .304 batting average, while Kyle Fiala and Matt Vierling are the clubs run producers with 23 and 21 RBIs, respectively.
Toledo and Notre Dame have both played Northern Illinois and Michigan. Both UT and UND were defeated by Michigan, but Notre Dame beat NIU while Toledo was swept in a three-game series by the Huskies.
The Rockets and the Irish have met in each of the last five seasons with Toledo winning two of the meetings.
