Rockets Return from Three-Week Break with Trip to Razorback State

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo travels to Arkansas for the first time in four years and will compete in the Little Rock/ASU Invitational on Monday-Tuesday, March 27-28. The tournament will take place at the par-72, 6,202-yard Maumelle Country Club with 36 holes on the first day followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday. An 8:30 a.m. (CT) shotgun start will be held each day.
     The Rockets have notched six Top Three showings in their first eight tournaments this season, including a 12-stroke victory at the Ball State Sunshine Invitational on Feb. 10-11 and a first-place tie at the Red Rocks Invitational on March 4-5. UT also has notched runner-up finishes at Ball State's Cardinal Classic (Sept. 19-20), the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational (Oct. 23-25) and Mercer's Idle Hour Collegiate Championship (Oct. 31-Nov. 1), as well as a third-place showing at the Rocket Classic (Oct. 10-11).
     Sophomore Pinyada Kuvanun leads the Rockets with a 74.1 stroke average, just ahead of classmate Pimchanok Kawil's 74.8 scoring mark. Freshman Saranlak Tumfong and junior Napaphan Phongpaiboon rank third and fourth on the team with 76.6 and 76.7 averages, respectively.
     In its most recent outing at the Red Rocks event, Toledo tied for first place with Seattle University at 20-over par 884. Kawil (73-73-69) and Kuvanun (73-70-72) helped the Rockets to their strong showing by tying for second place at one-under par 215 to earn Mid-American Conference Co-Golfer of the Week honors.
     The Rockets will be competing against a 12-team field that includes MAC foe Northern Illinois as well as Arkansas State, Central Arkansas, Evansville, Little Rock, Missouri State, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Oklahoma City, Omaha, UTEP and Wichita State.
