TOLEDO, OH – The Toledo men's tennis team will kick off a three-match homestand this weekend when it welcomes Findlay, Denison and Wayne State to the Shadow Valley Tennis Club (Maumee). The Rockets will open competition on Friday, Feb. 10 with a 1:00 p.m. match against the Oilers before taking on the Denison Big Red at 6:00 p.m. The match vs. Wayne State is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11.
Â
Toledo will host a prize raffle for fans following Friday's match vs. Denison. After Saturday's afternoon contest vs. WSU, the Rockets will host a meet and greet for fans and sign autographed posters.
Â
"We've identified and started to address a couple areas to improve on this week and the guys have responded well," said head coach Al Wermer. "These improvements will help our confidence and preparedness for the main stretch of our season. We hope to rotate our lineup a bit this weekend. We need to see who's ready to compete for remaining non-conference schedule."
Â
The Rockets (2-5) are coming off of a pair of tough 4-3 losses last weekend against Marquette and Green Bay. Toledo dominated in the doubles competition last weekend, claiming victories up and down the lineup. Senior Stjepan Sisko and freshman Thawin Suksathaporn are looking to notch their fifth-straight victory at first doubles this weekend. Sisko is also currently riding a four-match win streak at No. 1 singles.
