Rockets to Receive Another Strong Test at Louisville's Cardinal Cup

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo returns to the Bluegrass State for a second consecutive tournament when it competes in Louisville's Cardinal Cup this weekend. The tournament will consist of 54 holes with 36 being played on Saturday, Oct. 21 and the final 18 on Sunday, Oct. 22. A 9:15 a.m. tee time will be utilized each day. In their first three tournaments this season, the Rockets have posted a fourth-place finish at Ball State's Cardinal Classic (Sept. 18-19), a runner-up showing at Michigan State's Mary Fossum Invitational (Sept. 23-24) and a sixth-place standing at Kentucky's Bettie Lou Evans Invitational (Oct. 6-7).

THE FIELD
• Fourteen schools are participating in the Cardinal Cup. The tournament will be played at the University of Louisville's par-72, 6,250-yard UofL Golf Club in Simpsonville, Ky.
• Toledo is ranked No. 71 in the latest Golfstat computer rankings and will be joined by fellow MAC members Ball State (No. 199) and Kent State (No. 16). Also competing is No. 15 Illinois, No. 36 Wisconsin, No. 37 Kentucky, No. 41 Louisville, No. 46 East Carolina, No. 50 Memphis, No. 51 Virginia Tech, No. 59 Richmond, No. 102 Charlotte, No. 113 Murray State and No. 181 Columbia.

• Toledo will be making its first appearance at the Cardinal Cup.
• UT's lineup this weekend will include junior Pimchanok Kawil at #1, junior Pinyada Kuvanun at #2, sophomore Saranlak Tumfong at #3, junior Hannah Kochendoerfer at #4 and junior Natcha Daengpiem at #5. Daengpiem will be making her season debut after sitting out due to injury.

LOOKING BACK AT THE BETTIE LOU EVANS INVITATIONAL
• Toledo registered a sixth-place finish at Kentucky's Bettie Lou Evans Invitational with the top five finishers being No. 22 Notre Dame, No. 36 Wisconsin, No. 42 Penn State, No. 37 Kentucky and No. 15 Illinois. The Rockets posted a team score of 30-over par 894, just five behind the Fighting Illini and 13 in back of the Wildcats.
• Junior Pimchanok Kawil placed third in a highly-competitive field at two-under par 214 (69-76-69), one shy of her career best. She now has seven Top Five showings — three this season — and nine Top 10 finishes as a Rocket.
• Junior Pinyada Kuvanun also finished one stroke away from her career best with an even-par 216 (76-72-68) and tied for fourth place. She birdied her final three holes in the final round en route to a collegiate-best four-under par 68 that was one stroke shy of a school record.
• Sophomore Saranlak Tumfong tied for 32nd place after shooting a 13-over 229 (75-76-78).
• Junior Hannah Kochendoerfer and sophomore Thunpijja Sukkasem also were in UT's lineup. Kochendoerfer finished alone 63rd place at 20-over par 236 and Sukkasem tied for 80th place at 30-over par 246.
