TOLEDO, OH - The Rockets were kept off of the scoreboard in a 2-0 loss against Northern Kentucky in their home opener against on Friday at Scott Park. With the loss, UT drops to 1-3-0 on the season.
Toledo received a pair of acrobatic saves from sophomore goalkeeper Katie Wilson in the opening minutes to keep the non-conference match-up scoreless.
Much of the first half was played on the home side of the field,as the Rockets managed three shots in comparison to seven for the Norse (1-3-0).
NKU eventually broke through and opened the scoring on a perfectly placed corner kick from Ally Perkins in the 28th minute. NKU added another marker before the break when Sami Ratowski found Samantha Duwell behind the defense for a chip shot over the head of Wilson in the 42nd minute.
The Rockets came out aggressive in the second half, outshooting the Norse 5-3, but could not find an opening for any of their attempts.
Junior Isa Echeverri led the Toledo attack with three shots in her second match back with the Midnight Blue & Gold.
Wilson made a game-high three saves between the posts for the home squad.
Toledo returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 4 when it entertains Detroit at 1:05 p.m. at Scott Park.
