Alberto Chelimo Claims Mel Brodt Invitational Championship

BOWLING GREEN, OH - Alberto Chelimo ran a time of 25:54.2 in the 8K Mel Brodt Invitational to take home the invitational championship on Friday afternoon. The win for Chelimo is his second consecutive victory and second victory in two career races with the Midnight Blue and Gold.

Stalline Kurgat and Titus Koech also finished in the Top 5 with third place and fifth place, respectively. Kurgat finished in a time of 26:12.5 and Koech crossed the line in 26:20.0.

Josh Oeters took eighth place (26:39.5) and Caleb Morehart placed 14th (27:00.5) to round out the Top 5 runners for the Rockets.

Toledo travels south for its next meet, the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday, Oct. 1 in Louisville, KY.
