ÂÂÂTOLEDO, OH – Toledo was unable to overcome a few three-run innings and lost to Western Michigan (13-36, 6-8 MAC), 10-2. With the loss, the Rockets fall to 9-34-1 and 4-10 in the Mid-American Conference.

Senior LHP
Ross Achter was tagged with the loss after giving up four earned runs over 3.1 innings. Achter stuck out three batters and allowed eight hits. Sophomore RHP
Nolan Silberhorn threw 2.2 frames and did not allow a run to score while allowing just two batters to reach base. Junior RHP

Luke Schaefer also pitched in relief for the Rockets.

Jack Szott earned his first victory of the season for WMU after throwing 6.1 innings and allowing 2 earned runs to score. Szott walked three batters and fanned one.

Western Michigan jumped on the board in the second with a three-run inning. A squeeze bunt and a throwing error from Achter allowed Alex Goodwin to score the first run of the game. Connor Smith singled to score Steve Pastora to make the game 2-0, and a Greg Miller ground out drove home Mitchell Ho for a 3-0 lead.

WMU put another three-run inning up in the fourth. Smith ripped a double to right center to score Pastora to start the scoring. Hunter Prince singled to left field to bring home Ho and Jesse Forestell gave the Broncos a 6-0 advantage with a sacrifice fly in foul territory to score Prince.

Western Michigan earned another three-run inning in the fifth. A Nick Vogelmeier groundout brought home Nate Grys and Smith hit a single up the middle to score Ho and Pastora to give WMU a 9-0 lead. Grys had a game-high four RBI.

Toledo cut the WMU lead in the seventh. Finkler hit a single up the middle to bring home Adolph and Sokol to cut the Western Michigan to 9-2. Adolph reached with a single to right field and sokol reached on a single through the left-side of the infield.

Greg Miller drove in the final run of the game with a single up the middle to give WMU a 10-2.

The Rockets will wrap up the series with Western Michigan on Sunday, May 1 at 1:05 p.m. Junior RHP
