Ryan Callahan also ripped his first home run of the season, and sophomore 1B

Ross Achter picked up the loss after throwing 6.0 innings and allowing five earned runs to cross the plate. Achter also struck out a career-high seven batters during the outing. Junior RHP
Jordan Kesson was the only Rocket to pitch in relief and only allowed one hit and did not allow a run to cross the plate.

Toledo grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Martillotta ripped a double down the left field line to score senior SS
Deion Tansel and freshman LF
Ross Adolph for his 13
th and 14
th RBI of the year. Adolph reached on a single through the right side of the infield, and Tansel reached on a troublesome fly ball to shallow center field.

Bowling Green tied the game in the second at 2-2 with a two-run home run to right-center field from Cody Callaway.

Callahan put the Rockets back on top, 3-2, in the fourth with first home run this season over the left field fence.

BGSU responded in the same inning with a two-RBI single to center field from Kory Brown to give Bowling Green a 4-3 lead. Matt Smith hit an infield single to third baseman and Brown scored on the throw to make the game 5-3.

Toledo will play the rubber match of the series at 4:10 p.m. on April 3 at Stellar Field.
