The Rockets will now have to wait until Monday evening, March 14, to find out if they have been picked to participate in the Postseason WNIT.
UA (19-12) outscored UT, 13-11, in the extra period to advance to Friday's semifinal contest against No. 8 seed Buffalo. The Bulls upset top seed and reigning MAC Tournament champion Ohio in today's first quarterfinal game in downtown Cleveland.
Senior
Brenae Harris paced Toledo with 24 points, a game-tying high six assists and four caroms in a career-tying best 44 minutes. Harris shot 6-of-16 from the field, including 1-of-1 from three-point range, and 11-of-12 from the charity stripe to score at least 20 points for the 12
th time in her collegiate career.
Junior

Ana Capotosto had 11 points.
Anita Brown led Akron to its sixth straight victory against UT with 37 points and three thefts. UA's next high scorer was DiAndra Gibson with 10 points.
Brown was impressive all afternoon, scoring the first points in the extra period to give the Zips a lead they would not relinquish.
After UT's Monakana split a pair of free throws, Akron's Hannah Plybon buried back-to-back shots to create a 67-63 advantage at the 1:49 mark. The all-league performer converted a long jumper and a three-point field goal to make it a four-point difference.
The Rockets split the margin in half on their ensuing possession with a pair of free throws from Harris, but UA's Gretta Burry delivered the knockout punch with an offensive putback with 40.4 seconds left.
UT missed a pair of charity tosses on its next offensive trip to give the ball back to UA with just under 30 seconds remaining in overtime.
Akron's Brown made Toledo pay for the empty possesson, as Brown converted a layup to put the finishing touches on the neutral-court victory.
Toledo made the final score close with a pair of three-point field goals by Capotosto and Harris in the waning seconds, but it was too little, too late.
In between the two late treys, Brown split four free throws to make the final score 73-71.
At the start, the Zips knocked down three-straight triples to create a 16-12 lead at the 4:16 mark. UA's Meghan Sefcik was credited with the first two treys and Brown tallied the other to give the visitors an early two-possession advantage.
UA's Brown remained red-hot shooting the ball, scoring her team's final nine points in the quarter to make the score 22-17.
Toledo took advantage of three-consecutive field goals from Harris to start the second period and cut the deficit to 27-26 with 5:13 left before intermission. The 2015-16 first-team All-MAC recipient knocked down three mid-range jumpers to make it a one-point difference.
Brown would counter, though, by tallying eight her team's final 11 points to put the Zips in front 40-36 at the intermission. The 2015-16 first-team all-conference honoree finished with 21 points in the opening 20 minutes, more than half her team's points.
Unfortunately for UT, the halftime break did not cool off Brown. The senior guard had a hand in first three baskets to stretch the margin to 46-38 at the 5:05 mark. Brown was credited with two field goals and one assist to open up a three-possession cushion.
Toledo did not help its own cause during the opening stretch after halftime, as the Midnight Blue & Gold went without a field goal for the first seven-plus minutes.
The Rockets finally ended the scoring drought with a three-point field goal from sophomore Bravo-Harriott with 2:51 left in the quarter.
Bravo-Harriott's triple ignited a pivotal 14-0 burst to help Toledo claim its first lead since the opening minutes, 52-50, with 7:14 left in regulation. Bravo-Harriott and Harris did a majority of the damage, combining for all but three points to force UA to call a timeout. The other three points in the rally were equally as big for UT though, as Capotosto drilled a trey of her own.
Akron's Gibson eventually ended Toledo's run with a layup at the 6:27 mark.
The teams then traded the lead four times for the remainder of regulation, with neither squad holding more than a two-point advantage to send the game into overtime.
