Riverside, CA – Toledo fell in Tuesday's doubleheader with UC Riverside at Amy S Harrison Field. The Highlanders defeated UT by scores of 5-3 and 3-2. Toledo drops to 3-13 on the season.

Freshman Heather Webb (0-3) took the loss for the Rockets in the opener. She threw six innings, allowing five earned runs, walking seven and striking out four.

Junior 3B Chandler Rice led the Rockets' offense. Rice went 2-for-4 in game one, including her second home run of the season.

The Highlanders plated two runs in both the second and fourth innings and extended their lead to five with a run in the sixth.

With one out in the top of the seventh, Rice hit a three-run homer to left field. Rice scored senior OF Jessica Lemieux and sophomore OF Ashley Rausch who had each reached on a fielder's choice. Toledo was unable to get anything else going offensively the rest of the way.

Senior Marla Gooding's record fell 3-6 after Toledo's loss in game two. Gooding hurled her sixth complete game and allowed three runs in a one-run defeat.

Lemieux led the team offensively going 2-for-2, while Emery, Maynard, Rausch, Celeste Fidge and Brittany George each recorded a hit.

The Rockets plated both of their runs in the first. The first UT run came when the Highlanders tried to tag out Lemieux in her attempt to steal home but threw the ball off her helmet. Junior C Ashley Maynard added a second run with an RBI single to right field, scoring senior OF Sammy Emery to close out the inning.

UCR rallied late with a run in the sixth and two more in the seventh to claim the win.

Toledo will now travel to Northridge, CA to compete in the Cal State Northridge tournament on March 10-12.
